Château Haut Smith Lafitte 2003

£68

A Classic Pessac-Léognan wine. Château Haut Smith Lafitte 2003 has an evolved spicy bouquet, with notes of berries, spices, and a touch of vanilla. On the palate there are hints of cassis, and tobacco leaves, a touch of leather and cigar box. It has a medium-long finish with vanilla aftertaste.

Despite the heatwave that year, the producer succedeed in harvesting the grapes at the right time. The 2003 vintage is still vibrant, keeping a certain fragrancy in taste, and showing a lively acidity, smooth -not cooked- tannins, and an appropriate level of alcohol.

Its not as perfect as 2009 or 2011, but it still has the potential to be cellared for 15 years. Drink now, but it can evolve further.

Just 24 bottles remaining-perfectly stored in original wooden cases. Available for inspection at our East Surrey wine store. Duty and VAT paid stock
