Toro wines are not as well known as those from its illustrious neighbour, Ribera del Duero but are fast being appreciated for their power and complexity. This powerful red wine from Bodegas Frutos Villar is deep ruby in colour. On the nose it offers intense aromas of ripe plums, walnuts, liquorice, coffee and dark chocolate.
The palate is rounded with firm and persistent tannins balanced by good acidity. It has a long savoury and smoky finish.
This full bodied, complex wine pairs well with hearty winter soups, Shepherd’s pie and also succulent cheese burgers with french fries.
